Meet Lois & Claire's very own wellness expert, Kelly Bloodgood.
Kelly Bloodgood, founder of WELL + GOOD health spa in Hermosa beach, CA.
The saying “Necessity is the mother of all invention” rings true for
WELL + GOOD Health Studio founder, Kelly Bloodgood. In 2015 Kelly became so ill that she could no longer work. What little energy she had left was devoted to finding out what was going on with her health. When Kelly was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, along with 3 co-infections, she set out on a mission to improve her own life and the lives of others. Thus, the inception of WELL+GOOD!
1.Eat whole foods
Stay away from processed foods and refined sugars and focus on eating whole foods. This kills 2 birds with one stone by aiding a healthy immune system and fighting inflammation.
2. Get moving!!
Move your body!!! If the word exercise makes you cringe then think '"movement". For me, movement conjures up the carefree days of my youth riding bikes, climbing trees, swimming, playing tag and dancing. I love long walks and dance parties. Just move for 30 min a day! It does the mind, body and soul good.
3. Meditation
Start your day with some quiet, reflective time whether it’s with mindful meditation, yoga, or enjoying a quiet cup of tea or coffee. Adopting this habit has changed my life! I spend 10 minutes each morning meditating while sitting in front of my red-light lamp and setting my intentions for that day. I know meditation can be quite daunting because the thought of quieting the mind seems impossible. If I can do it, anyone can!
4. Apple cider vinegar
1 to 2 Tsp of apple cider vinegar a day helps boost your immune system and so much more. You can also add it to salad dressings and soups.
5. Supplements
Supplements!!! I believe they saved my life, and helped my immune system fight inflammation. Because of my Lyme disease I swallow so many pills a day that adding more seemed outrageous, but I found a comapny called PatchMD so helpful. They offer everything Vitamin B to Anti-Aging, Sleep Starter and Focus patches.
6. Dry brushing
Dry Brushing is one of my favorite ways to start my day. I do it right before I hop in the shower. It feels amazing and helps with lymphatic drainage (key for a healthy immune system). It improves circulation as well as exfoliates the skin. You don’t need anything fancy. A $6 dry brush does the trick (you can order them from amazon).
